Aceon
Customer information about Aceon
What is Aceon?
Aceon belongs to a class of drugs known as ACE inhibitors. ACE inhibitors are used to treat congestive heart failure, high blood pressure (hypertension), and other common heart conditions. They work by increasing the amount of blood flow and reducing the congestion in the arteries.
How does Aceon work?
The active ingredient of Aceon is Perindopril. This drug helps to lower the patient’s blood pressure by reducing the pressure within the blood vessels. The primary benefit is the prevention of the formation of a blood factor, called Angiotensin II from being manufactured. One of the main roles of Angiotensin II is to keep blood pressure elevated by maintaining the pressure within the blood vessels. As soon as Perindopril starts to take effect, the level of Angiotensin II starts to decrease, and the blood vessels begin to relax and widen. This has the effect of lowering the blood pressure and slowing the heart rate.
How should I take Aceon?
In order to be effective in the treatment of heart disease, Aceon may need to be taken over an extended period of time. Initially, the recommended dosage is once per day. However, this dosage can be increased after consulting a doctor, provided the blood pressure of an individual remains under control. The medicine can be taken with or without food.
Missed dosage instructions
If you forget to take a dose, skip the scheduled dose and follow your daily routine. It is important to avoid double dosing without first talking with your doctor. As with all medications, to maintain maximum results, one should consume this tablet according to the dosage schedule or as prescribed by the physician. An individual can consume the tablet either alone or with thiazide diuretics. Diuretics reduce excess water present in the body. It may take few weeks in order to see the full results of this medicine.
